TUFI President, Lord Clarke of Hampstead
Anthony James Clarke was the Deputy General Secretary of the Union of Communication Workers (UCW) from 1981 to 1993. He was also a member of the Labour Party's National Executive Committee from 1983 to 1993, and served as Chairman of the Labour Party from 1992 to 1993. Clarke became a life peer in 1998, as Baron Clarke of Hampstead, London Borough of Camden.
Lord Clarke started out as a postman before becoming a full-time offical of the Union of Postal Workers in 1979.
