Palestinian Civil Servants Call Off Strike
The Palestinian civil servants' union has called off a strike that had been scheduled to begin on Sunday.
Union head Bassam Zakarna said the workers called off the strike after reaching an agreement with the government over back pay.
The government has agreed to immediately disburse a full month's salary to the workers along with a third of the accumulated overdue pay. The government has promised to disburse all overdue pay by the end of the year.
The agreement was reached after several meetings between Zakarna and the General Secretary of the Palestinian cabinet, Sa'di Al-Krunz.
