EU ministers to suspend Hamas aid
BBC
EU foreign ministers are expected to endorse a decision by the European Commission to suspend direct aid to the Palestinian government led by Hamas.
The EU, the biggest aid donor to the Palestinians, says it cannot fund the organisation unless it renounces violence and recognises Israel.
It must also commit to past peace agreements. Hamas, which won elections in January, is described as a terrorist group by the EU and the United States. The US suspended more than $400m (£229m; 330m euros) in aid last week. Hamas is complaining of international blackmail, but the pressure is set to grow.
